We were both enlightened and inspired after attending BVE 2012 at Earls Court this week.  What an amazing adventure.  It was a busy two days, however, we managed to pack quite a lot in, in terms of attending seminars, networking and general ‘moseying’ around.  We were lucky enough to speak with industry gurus Den Lennie, of whom we’re currently undertaking professional development through; and Philip Bloom before he embarked on his Australasian tour!
BVE2012
From Lighting on the Run with Jonathan Harrison, Recording Audio with the panel and Elbow Live in 3D with legendary Peter Van Hook and Panasonic - it was an amazing eye opener to be a filmmaker!  Second year we’d attended and it seems 3D isn’t going away.  Also, perhaps the market for DSLRs is about to plateau, what with the arrival of the Canon C300, of which we got hands-on!  Magical!  We also visited our colleagues over at the IOV stand and amazed to see it pack out!  Adobe gave a fantastic session of seminars led by graphic design and motion graphics gurus Angie Taylor and Maxim Jago!  Prior to this we were always on the fence about post-production software, but after they’re concise demo about ‘dynamic linking’ between; Premiere Pro and After Affects and the ability to import FCPro and Avid projects into Premiere Pro - we know who we’re sticking with!  Our sides were splitting when we were learning how to grade for Top Gear by Soho Editor Dado Valentic - definitely a link to a previous life!  So infectious, we’ll be downloading the light version to have a play with!  This is a fantastic exhibition for anyone that’s involved in production.

Pushing on with post-production this week and digital delivery of our series of offshore productions, after recording our final voice-over in Leith at Canongate.  A huge thank you to Ian and Big Al for their fantastic work.  You may watch out Global Giving short film competition submission, in support of the Nepal Trust here.  Fingers crossed we get a result for them!  Pushing on with professional development all thanks to Den and his team and very much looking forward to networking at BVE next week!

This week, we had a quick turnaround to produce a shorter edit of our Nepal promo for an international charity competition.  Fingers crossed we get a great result!  We’ve been down to Edinburgh recording the final voice-over instalment with our fantastic team at Leith for our offshore production, which is nearing an end.  I know I keep saying that, but in a good way.  We’ve been involved in a couple of video production and post-production workshops with a local drama group to provide staff training and a young people’s workshop in partnership with the Moray Art Centre, supporting local history and the arts.  Now working on a new short film edit of the Clavie 2012, for another competition submission….exciting times!  We hope you’ve had a pretty busy Jan too.  We take pleasure in announcing our Feb raffle!  We will welcome our 100th facebook fan with a fine bottle of Speyside single malt whisky.  Please check out our facebook page.  Thanks for checking in.

It’s certainly been a month for a flurry of events filmmaking enquiries, which has been great.  We’re pushing on with our offshore production, which is a job that keeps giving.  Excited to be producing our first reprographics project.  Enjoying our professional development, all thanks to Mr Lennie and his team!  We’re looking forward to next month’s industry expo - can’t wait actually!  It’ll be great to touch base with our fellow colleagues at the IOV and dip in and out of industry seminars.  Early stages of engaging with a film composer for our impending ob-doc productions - very exciting!  Delighted to announce we’re in phase one for our first science and education production too.  On reflection, Jan has been a month for seedcorn and has brought plenty of confidence that 2012 will be another exciting year for Recite Films.

We’ve been busy in post-production on a few corporate productions, with an offshore production nearing delivery.  Very happy to receive a first commission to produce complementary handbooks for our instructional films, which will be a first for reprographics!  A successful result this week for an ongoing legal situation, which has proven there is copyright protection for IP.  We’re looking forward to pushing ahead with post-production for our first exciting SIV with a view for broadcast, WTS!  In the meantime, looking forward to attending a Burns supper this evening, so must get the poetry books out!
